The Niskayuna Central School District is planning to hold a public forum on school safety. This follows a lockdown on Monday at the high school that lasted nearly six hours.
The forum will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The district says parents will be given a synopsis of what happened on Monday. There will also be a discussion of what worked and what could be improved in the future.
Superintendent Cosimo Tangorra, Jr. and the high school administration will be at the forum.
The high school was placed in lockdown around 1 p.m. Monday after a note indicating a threat was found in the school. Students were held in their classrooms while the building was searched. They were finally released around 6:30 p.m. after the all-clear was given.
There was talk of some students having to relieve themselves in buckets and trash cans during the lockdown because they couldn't leave the room they were in.
