NISKAYUNA (WNYT) -- Maya McNulty tested positive for COVID-19 on March 12, 2020.

She spent six weeks in a coma and on a ventilator.

The prognosis was grim, but McNulty beat the odds and was discharged from a rehab facility on May 28, 2020.

McNulty said she didn't know at the time that she had a long road of recovery ahead of her.

"Some days are better than others," said McNulty. "This is the third time I've had bronchitis since August and I've been on so many meds sometimes I'm like what is happening to my body."

McNulty will graduate from physical therapy later this month.

"You have to stay positive," said McNulty. "You have to have a positive mind set.surround yourself with people that are gonna lift you up and lift you higher."
