Amtrak says they won't have Toys for Tots train this year

Christmas is not coming early this year.

First on 13, Christmas may not come at all for kids who wait for the annual Toys for Tots train.

Marine Toys for Tots organizers tell NewsChannel 13 Amtrak has informed them it no longer fits within their business model.

NewsChannel 13's Jerry Gretzinger reached out to Amtrak back in April, when we first heard rumblings that seemed to threaten the Toys for Tots train. At the time, they said no decision had been made yet.

The Marines call it a catastrophic move that will affect approximately 40,000 children and their families who relied on the festive delivery of donated gifts -- including winter coats and gloves.
