Officers located the source of the explosion on Snyders Lake Road and determined it had been a resident that was using an exploding rifle target, commonly known by the brand Tannerite.

Tannerite is legal in New York, but the Senate had begun the process of placing restrictions on it.

The homeowner was advised that causing the explosion - especially at that hour, was disruptive to the peace of the community. He apologized for the inconvenience he caused other residents.
