COLONIE – Police are investigating an apparent suicide that shut down part of a neighborhood Thursday afternoon.

Authorities were called to a home on DeVoe Drive after they say a man living there sent a text to a relative saying he wanted to harm himself.

They got word he might also have a gun. Neighbors were told to shelter in place and school buses were notified to stay out of the area.

After a few hours, a swat team sent in a robot and determined the man was dead.

NewsChannel 13 is told he lived there with his wife and kids. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
