Phase II of reopening in New York may be on hold until data is reviewed by international experts, but Oneida County officials say they are reopening as planned.
Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente held an impromptu press conference late Thursday.
He said we will not stop any businesses in his county from reopening Friday, as planned. He also said that he's disappointed in the way the state handled this decision.
“I stood up here and told businesses that we were set to open. I stand by that. We are set to open. I’m not going to enforce and tell them they shouldn’t. In my discussion with the sheriff, in discussion with the chairman of the board, we are not asking for enforcement,” Picente said.
“It’s an insult to every business in this community that has been struggling. It is a lack of respect for the business community,” he added.
Again, it is unclear how long this review of the phase one data will take.
