Albany pastor ramps-up efforts to take guns off the streets

July 09, 2018 06:30 PM

ALBANY - The spike in violence in Albany has many people outraged. Thirteen people have been shot and one person has been stabbed – all in less than a week.

Pastor Charlie Muller wants more guns off the street and he's increasing the amount you can get if you turn one in to $200. People can show up at his Victory Christian Church, turn in a gun and pick up a gift card -- no questions asked.

Muller says he's taken more than 780 handguns off the streets of Albany over the last decade and he's convinced it has made a difference. He also wants to make sure he continues to make a difference.

He's also mindful that people are often reluctant and in many cases fearful if they were to share information with police.

To anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the gunman in the Elijah Cancer murder over the weekend, Pastor Charlie is offering $5,000.
