Paulina Bucka is a Polish immigrant who grew up in Brooklyn. After getting her Bachelors at CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice studying Literature, she traveled cross-country to San Francisco where she stumbled into her love for news.
Getting her start at KPIX, she was a production assistant before taking over the assignment desk following stories like the Napa Earthquake and Oakland Riots. She landed her first TV job in Redding, California before moving down south to Lafayette, Louisiana.
For nearly three years she called Cajun country her home where spent time covering hurricanes, chasing tornados, and learning Cajun English all while eating crawfish.
The last two years she’s been reporting in Louisville, Kentucky following the high profile story of Breonna Taylor, Louisville Riots and the fight between churches and state government shutdowns in the fallout from COVID-19.
Now back in New York, Paulina is happy to be a three-hour drive away from family. She loves exploring new hiking trails with her pup Gypsy, making pierogi and finding great places to eat! Send your food and news tips and suggestions her way!
