Man dead after being hit by Amtrak train in Columbia County

An Amtrak train killed a man Tuesday who wandered out onto the tracks in Columbia County.

The victim has been identified as 51-year-old David C. Soka of Austerlitz, NY. State police say he committed suicide.

They say Soka was found just after 10:30 a.m. on Station Road in Stockport. He was near the trestle on the Empire Service line.

Multiple fire departments along with Amtrak Police helped with the investigation.
