Pittsfield police probe Saturday fire

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Pittsfield police are investigating a fire that broke out on Tyler Street on Saturday afternoon.

Fire officials say the call came in around 2 p.m. and they found flames in the basement. The fire was knocked down within 15 minutes.

NewsChannel 13’s media partners at The Berkshire Eagle say a resident of the multi-family home saw a screaming woman drag a wooden pallet into the basement. That woman was taken into custody, although it's unclear why.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
