The ban on plastic bags here in New York state will not be enforced for the foreseeable future.

The ban took effect on March 1, but then a plastic bag company sued the state and the Department of Environmental Conservation agreed to delay enforcement for 30 days.

DEC put enforcement on hold again two more times.

NewsChannel 13 was told Monday that DEC will give us at least 30 days advanced notice before they begin enforcing the ban.
