Police: Illegal handgun found during Albany traffic stop

ALBANY - During a string of violence, Albany police say they've taken a handgun off the streets.

Police say they stopped a car on 3rd Avenue near Broad Street Monday night for a traffic violation. They say Kevon Jones, 25, was driving with a suspended license and officers smelled marijuana. Police say they found a handgun with 10 rounds of ammunition.

Pershon Mackey, 22, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
