Police investigate fatal accident involving a train in Rensselaer County

VALLEY FALLS - The Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal accident involving a train in Valley Falls on Thursday evening.

Emergency crews say a freight train that was hauling grain hit a trespasser around 9:20 p.m.


The company says the speed limit in that area is 25 miles per hour. The train's black box is now being looked at for more information.

The pedestrian's identity has not been released.

The train was cleared to move again around 3:40 Friday morning.
