Police investigating Albany homicide

ALBANY-- Albany police are investigating a homicide that occurred early Saturday morning on Teunis Street. 

Police say they found two males with gunshot wounds. One of the victims, a 31-year-old from Albany sustained a gunshot wound to the arm. He was transported to Albany Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The second, 32-year-old Elijah Cancer of Albany was shot three times in the torso. He was also transported to Albany Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. 

Police believe there was an altercation involving a group of girls. They say the victims were attempting to break up a fight when they were shot. 

The incident remains under investigation. Police ask those with more information to contact the Albany Police Detective Division at (518) 462-8039. 

Tips that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,500.
