Police: man arrested twice after vandalizing station and later threatening children

July 28, 2019 11:20 AM

ALBANY - The Albany Police Department says its Center Station on Western Avenue was vandalized, along with a neighboring business. Police say they have arrested the man who caused the damage, Ronald Knight, 25, of Albany.

Police say Knight spray painted the station overnight, along with two police cars and the window of Junior's bar across the street.

Albany Police Union President Gregory Mcgee says the incident shows that criminals are, "emboldened and have no fear."

Albany Police Chief Eric Hawkins says he's concerned that their station was targeted. He says the suspect was not hard to locate. "Apparently the person left their initials on the building" said Chief Hawkins.

Police say Knight was then arraigned and released.

However, the Albany Police Department says Ronald Knight is back in custody following another incident at Washington Park on Saturday evening. Authorities say they received a call for for a man with a knife, threatening a group with children, just before 7:00 p.m. Knight was then taken into custody, charged and will be arraigned on Sunday.
