Driver leads police on chase that ends in an officer-involved crash

ALBANY -  A 37-year-old man from Averill Park is arrested in connection with a car chase that started in Rensselaer County, ending in downtown Albany.

Ryan Spiak is facing a list of charges, including reckless endangerment, unlawful possession of marijuana and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

The chase started Thursday night, where police say Spiak took off from a DWI checkpoint.

The chase carried on 787, the driver went the wrong way through the Empire State Plaza tunnels and ended up near the Times Union Center where the driver hit a Rensselaer police car.

The chase eventually ended near the Times Union Center.
