Investigations into Chatham's finances leads to police raids

CHATHAM - The Columbia County District Attorney is investigating irregularities with the village of Chatham's finances.

Two police raids were executed on Tuesday -- one at village hall, another at the home of a former employee.

NewsChannel 13 has learned that the raids are connected to overdue payments owed to the IRS, to the tune of more than $50,000.

That overdue payment -- if true, could leave taxpayers on the hook for more than $18,000 in penalties.

The woman whose home was raided, Barbara Henry, resigned as treasurer in August.
