North Greenbush police warn of phone scam

April 11, 2019 01:28 PM

North Greenbush Police Department is warning about a phone scam.

Police say a victim got a call from someone claiming to be with the Social Security Administration, then was told he would get a call from the police department.

Soon after, the victim received a call from what the caller ID showed as the emergency line at the North Greenbush Police Department and asked for money, or else.

Police want the public to know that they are not affiliated with the call and ask people to be vigilant about such scams.
