National Grid ready to handle heatwave's power demand

National Grid says it's ready for this weekend's heat. The utility has extra crews on standby, ready to respond if the hot weather leads to power outages.

There are steps you can take to help reduce the strain on the grid and save a little money. This includes using a smart thermostat in your home, slightly increasing your air conditioner settings, and unplugging unnecessary electronics.

National Grid says the electricity supply to the area is adequate and it doesn't expect any major outages.
