Valatie woman recalls President Bush's response to poem she sent him

VALATIE - The passing of President Bush sparked a special memory for a Valatie woman.

It was the summer of 1989 and Fran Campeta was getting increasingly upset whenever she saw video of protestors burning the American flag.

President George Bush had just taken office months earlier - and was determined to pass a measure outlawing the desecration of the flag.

Campeta put her feelings on paper and wrote a poem. She sent it to the president and was delighted when she got a response back.
