August 15, 2019 06:22 PM

Police have arrested two people they say are responsible for the Memorial Day shooting of Ayanna Hunter. However, they are not facing homicide charges.

The district attorney says Wayne Brown and Pierre Thompson were legally justified in the shooting.

Hunter - a former Albany High standout basketball player, was shot and killed at a party at the Hillcrest Apartments in Niskayuna back in late May.

After a lengthy investigation that included hundreds of pieces or evidence and interviewing two-dozen witnesses, authorities now say Hunter is to blame.

Brown and Thompson are both facing weapons charges.

Two other people are also charged in connection with the shooting.
