Recent rains delay part of Erie Canal opening

The heavy rain lately is going to keep the Erie Canal closed a little longer in parts of our area.

The Canal Corporation tells NewsChannel 13 the canal will open on Friday between Lock 2 in Waterford and Lock 7 in Niskayuna. However, it will stay closed a little longer from Lock 8 in Scotia to Lock 22 in Rome.

The corporation blames heavy rain and snow melt.
