Read Gov. Cuomo’s letter of resignation

With the clock winding down on his time in office, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has officially submitted his letter of resignation to state Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie.

"I hearby tender my resignation for the office of Governor of the State of New York," the letter read. "This resignation will be effective at 12:00 a.m. August 24, 2021."

The three-term Democrat announced he would step down two weeks ago after a report from the state Attorney General’s Office accused him of sexually harassing 11 women. Numerous calls for the governor’s resignation followed.

"It has been my pleasure to serve with you both," Cuomo’s letter concluded.

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul will be sworn in at midnight and will become New York’s 57th governor.
