Renewed push for lawmakers to act on Child Victims Act

GLENS FALLS - There was a renewed push in Glens Falls Tuesday, calling for lawmakers to act on the "New York State Child Victims Act."
It would implement three changes to New York law: increasing the statute of limitations for victims to press charges from 23 to 28, increase the window for victims to make civil claims to the age of 50 -- and provide a one-year window for all victims of childhood sexual assault to bring a civil complaint against their abuser, regardless of when it happened.
The "Child Victims Act" has cleared the Assembly several times, but it has not been brought to the floor in the state Senate.
