Farm worker in U.S. illegally accused of raping Salem girl

A farm worker in the United States illegally, has now been indicted on sex abuse charges.

Ricardo Barajas-Suarez is accused of raping a 14-year-old girl earlier this summer in Salem.

It happened near a farm where Suarez had been working.    

The victim managed to escape and call 911.

Suarez is a native of Mexico.

Police tell NewsChannel 13's media partners at The Post-Star that he had been arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents in Washington County last November. He had overstayed a work visa.

Suarez pleaded not guilty to the indictment. He faces up to 32 years in prison if convicted.
