Rotterdam family using loved one's death to raise heroin danger awareness

A Rotterdam family is using their daughter's death as an opportunity to raise awareness about heroin overdose.

Jennifer Nicole Piscitella died on April 29. Her family says she died after an accidental overdose.

In her obituary, her family writes that her pain and embarrassment from her addiction has ended.

"Heroin is a nasty drug... It calls our children out and promises them confidence, thin bodies and a best friend for life! It's all lies!"

The family encourages people to ask for help.

Calling hours are set for Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bond Funeral Home in Schenectady.

The funeral will take place Monday morning at 10 a.m.
