Sam Hesler is a reporter and digital producer at NewsChannel 13.
She joined the team as an intern in 2018, and in June 2019, she began as the morning traffic reporter. Since then, Sam’s role has evolved, and she enjoys getting to try out a bit of everything.
Sam is from the Capital Region, and she grew up in Valatie, New York. She attended Ichabod Crane High School and went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Arts from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. During her time at Marist, Sam was a part of the Honors Program and majored in Communications and History.
She was the News Director of her college TV program, MCTV News. During her senior year, she was also president of the Marist Society of Professional Journalists. Sam even had her historical research published in the Hudson River Valley Review.
Sam is passionate about telling people’s stories, and she feels so privileged to be working at the news station she watched while growing up.
When she is not out in the field, Sam enjoys spending time with loved ones, dining at some of the Capital Region’s amazing restaurants, and then proceeding to walk off that food on some of the gorgeous trails in the area.
