SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - A sushi restaurant in San Francisco has taken outdoor dining to a new level of safety.

Three plastic bubbles are now on the sidewalk outside of Hashiri.

The domes enclose tables and chairs as customers eat their meals.

The bubbles have been relatively popular. The weekends are already fully booked.

The restaurant's owner says he initially tried takeout to stay afloat during the pandemic. However, it wasn't enough – and takeout didn't work well with the restaurant's multi-course, hours-long dining experience.

The restaurant hopes to add more bubbles if things continue to go well.
