Off days don't have to be dark in Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS – While one man is power-washing the sidewalk on Broadway, two other guys are unloading their beer trucks along Phila Street. The business of Saratoga Springs is horseracing and business is good.

With the track season the longest it's ever been – eight weeks now with two days off per week, Mondays and Tuesday – there's a lot to do around the Spa City. That means everything from shopping to museums, concerts to movies. You can always take a few minutes and spend time with the ducks in Congress Park or grab an ice cream and sit under a tree.

The NYS Military Museum, typically open Tuesday through Saturday, will now add Mondays from July 8-August 26 to accommodate those people that may not play golf, go bowling or stroll down Broadway.

Said babysitter Brittany Glenn, strolling through Congress Park with three young kids waiting for the carousel to open: "Downtown Saratoga is one of my favorite places to go. So in general, it feels like a vacation in my own hometown."
