Saratoga Auto Auction revs up Friday

SARATOGA SPRINGS – In the city where horses are king, it's all about horsepower this weekend.

A preview is underway for the inaugural Saratoga Auto Auction, which starts Friday at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

There will be 210 vehicles up for bidding, including classic cars, sports cars, foreign cars, and even trikes that look like cars. Combined, the vehicles are valued at $8.5 million.

The auction benefits the Saratoga Auto Museum, which will receive a portion of the proceeds from every car that changes hands.

"This has the opportunity to turn into a very massive event for Saratoga,” said Jim Letts of the Saratoga Auto Museum. “Something really different and we're in early fall."

The cars will be driven onto the SPAC stage where buyers will place their bids. The auction, which is open to the public, begins at 4 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
