The Saratoga County Veterans Service Agency is warning local veterans about a scam call that is hitting the Capital Region.

On the agency’s Facebook page,

The agency says on their Facebook page that they've received reports from veterans who have been getting scam calls from a caller claiming to be the "Veterans Services Department." They say the caller is claiming to be "seeking to assist with Veterans benefits" and asking for identifying information.

Veterans who have received the call say the caller even claimed to have a representative ID number.

Caller ID states the caller is from Bolton Landing and displays the number 518-413-8843.

The Saratoga County Veterans Service Agency is reminding veterans that the Department of Veterans Affairs, the New York State Division of Veterans Services, and local county agencies will not call veterans and request sensitive information over the phone.
