Saratoga Race Course opens for season; advertises giveaways and more

It's opening day of the 2019 season at the Saratoga Race Course. The first race is the $150,000 Schuylerville.

Friday is Mariano Rivera Day at the track. NYRA is honoring the legendary Yankees closer with the third race. It will be named the Mariano Rivera Hall of Fame Race. There is going to be a trackside ceremony before and after the race. Rivera will address the crowd at 2:10 p.m.

Rivera is Major League Baseball’s career saves leader with 652 saves in 19 seasons with the Yankees. He helped the team win five World Series championships and is a 13-time all-star. He is the first person in history to be elected to the baseball Hall of Fame unanimously.

"American Idol" contenstant Madison VanDenburg will be performing at the track on Saturday.

On Sunday, track goers will receive a picnic cooler. Free giveaways will continue throughout the summer.
