Saratoga City Council asks board to reconsider arming school monitors

The Saratoga Springs City Council passed a resolution urging the school board to reconsider its decision that will end the practice of arming grounds monitors.

The decision came down five to four at a school board meeting in October.

At Monday night's meeting, the council also said that the city will pay 25 percent of the cost of hiring additional school resource officers.

Within 72 hours of the school board vote, a parents group called Saratoga Parents for Safe Schools collected 1,000 signatures on a petition against disarming monitors.
