Eight Schenectady buildings await demolition in redevelopment project

SCHENECTADY - The city of Schenectady is taking steps to demolish eight buildings this summer. It's part of an ongoing effort to revitalize neighborhoods.

Mayor Gary McCarthy says they're collecting demo bids for right now. McCarthy says they'll collect the bids until April 24 and the buildings will hopefully be demolished this summer.

He says the city has knocked down nearly 200 blighted building in recent years. The goal is to increase investment in city neighborhoods.
