Schenectady shooting victims include two kids

SCHENECTADY -  Two children and an adult have been shot in Schenectady. The shooting happened at a home on Union Street around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, in the area of Phoenix and Rugby streets.

A 16-year-old female and a 7-year-old male were found suffering gunshot wounds.The kids adult are in stable condition at the hospital.

Police have taken the suspect, 47-year-old Deshawn Howard into custody and say he has an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Another adult and infant in the home were unharmed. The uninjured adult was also taken into custody. Their role is not known at this time.

Roads in that area have been closed as police investigated. By later Tuesday, at least some roads were being reopened.

Police don't think there is any further danger to anyone in the immediate area.
