A Schenectady man has admitted to raping an 11-year-old girl.

The district attorney tells NewsChannel 13 Robert Cronin pleaded guilty to first-degree rape.

This all started back in 2018, when police were told an 11-year-old was in labor at Bellevue Women's Center.

Cronin denied having sex with the child.

He did provide a DNA sample and admitted it would prove he was the father of the baby. However, he insisted the girl got pregnant by a sock containing his semen.

He admitted on Friday to having sex with the child and was also charged with perjury.

He will serve up to 24 years behind bars.
