SCHOHARIE - The Schoharie Reformed Church is sending help to a church in Poland that's taking in refugees from Ukraine.

The two places of worship have had a friendship for nearly two decades. Right now, that partnership is needed more than ever.

The small church is located in Lodz, in Central Poland, about 680 miles from the border of Ukraine.

So far, the church in Schoharie has sent nearly $7,000.

Reverend Semko Koroza says it's helping his church with basic things like food, clothing and toilet paper. That way, they can focus more on the day-to-day living, like teaching the Polish language, and consoling those who had to leave everything behind.

The church is holding a vigil Wednesday, March 30 at 6:30 on Main Street.

The partnership and more importantly, the friendship, is providing solace for Reverend Semko, knowing he has people wanting to help him from across the world.
