SARATOGA SPRINGS - The snow was falling, but not accumulating outside Saratoga Springs High School Wednesday. A couple hours earlier, students and teachers had been sent home for the day.
The original forecast called for the snow to pick up in intensity Wednesday afternoon, so superintendents like Mike Patton wanted to get kids home before that happened.
Patton says there is no room for second-guessing – even when the timing of heavy snowfall seemed to shift a bit. He made the decision late Tuesday afternoon to dismiss early Wednesday.
Meanwhile, West Mountain in Queensbury was busy. The operator of the ski area says the timing of the storm is perfect. It provides fresh snow and top of mind consciousness to skiers and boarders.
