Albany police have identified the man who died last Wednesday in restraints at the Albany Medical Center emergency room. He is 45-year-old Sean Purvis of Albany.

Albany police say they took Purvis to the hospital after responding to a call at Central and Manning for a man who appeared to be intoxicated and harassing people.

An EMS report says the man was displaying aggressive and belligerent behavior. The hospital was unable to de-escalate the situation and the agitated patient agreed to have anti-anxiety medicine administered. After that, restraints were put on.

Albany police say they want to make it very clear they were not at the hospital when this happened.

The investigation into how Purvis died continues.
