The credit union says the donation reflects SEFCU's long-time commitment to giving back to the community.

"Certainly bittersweet," pointed out Michael Castellana, the president and CEO of SEFCU. "We're hopeful that our contribution can be helpful. We're hopeful that the attention will raise awareness in our region. It's the holiday season and everybody feels good, everybody is full. They've eaten quite a bit. But really, there's a lot of people that haven't eaten anything at all. We're hopeful that by raising awareness, more people will come out and help these incredible organizations that are doing life-changing work, every single day."

This is the eighth year SEFCU has provided year-end donations to rescue missions and food pantries in the area. In all, $260,000 was donated across the state.
