Republican Senate Minority Leader John Flanagan said he won't seek re-election in November.

He made the announcement Wednesday.

It brings an end to a career in Albany that spanned more than 30 years.

Flanigan said it was the best decision for him and his family.

Flanigan became minority leader in 2015 after Dean Skelos stepped down after being indicted in a federal corruption case.
