LATHAM -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and organizations in the Capital Region are wasting no time in getting behind the cause.
The Serve for the Cure breast cancer charity tournament was held Sunday in Latham. It's the Capital Region's largest charity tennis tournament, featuring a full day of men's and women's doubles round robin action.
Normally, tennis players wear white on the court. But on Sunday, everyone donned their pink.
“Everyone's got [someone] that's been touched by breast cancer, so we want to do whatever we can to contribute,” said event co-chair Jenny Irwin.
The event also included a luncheon, a 50-50 raffle and a loaded prize drawing. All of the proceeds are donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Northeastern New York.
