Troy raids yield several arrests

TROY - Nine people were arraigned Friday following a series of raids throughout the city on Thursday evening.

Police say the raids yielded nearly 6 ½ pounds of marijuana, just over $9,000 cash and felony weight cocaine. There were surveillance systems located at some of the raids that were also confiscated as well as packaging for drugs and drug scales, police added.

The raids were carried out at locations on Tyler Street, 4th Street, 8th Street, 10th Street, 6th Avenue and 2nd Avenue. The raids followed a lengthy investigation into illegal guns and drugs in the city.

The following people were arrested:

  • Shaun Wilkerson, 39, of Brooklyn, was charged with marijuana possession
  • Christopher Ward, 40, of Troy, was charged with marijuana possession
  • Howard Nedrick, 41, of Troy, was charged with marijuana possession
  • Germaine Hargrove, 45, of Brooklyn, was charged with marijuana possession
  • John Foster Jr., 48, of Troy, was charged with marijuana possession and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was also wanted on a bench warrant for violating a condition of sentence.
  • Shannon Dame, 39, of Troy, was charged with marijuana possession and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
  • Ron Roberts, 39, of Schenectady, was charged with marijuana possession
  • James Mayotte, 47, of Troy, was charged with marijuana possession and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
  • Bobby Yarrell, 31, of Troy, was charged with marijuana possession.

Police say a tenth person, 40-year-old Leonard Jiles of Brooklyn, was picked up Thursday on charges unrelated to the raids. He was wanted on a parole violation.
