Sex offender who tried to escape prison to be released

Convicted sex offender Joel O’Keefe is scheduled to be released from prison later this month. He tried unsuccessfully to escape from state prison, twice.

NewsChannel 13’s media partners at The Post-Star report O'Keefe will be handed over to the Washington County Department of Social Services on November 25. They'll help the Argyle native find temporary housing.

O'Keefe served more than 23 years behind bars.

He escaped from police in Ballston Spa in 1994 and tried to escape from state prison in 2000 and 2001.
