'American Idol' crew coming to 518 after Shaker High's VanDenburg moves on to top 3

A pep rally and a parade will be held in Colonie on Tuesday to celebrate Madison VanDenburg. She is a Top 3 finalist this season on "American Idol." The show's production team wants to showcase her hometown.

A pep rally is scheduled at Shaker High School on Tuesday morning, followed by a parade to The Crossings in Colonie Tuesday afternoon, where Madison will perform on stage.


Meanwhile, dozens of Shaker High students joined friends and family Sunday night to cheer on Madison as she performed live for a spot on the final three.

Madison is a Shaker High junior and a Cohoes native.

The ambitious singer has spent weeks competing on the show in Los Angeles. Madison has received praise along the way from all the show's judges. Some of them even dubbed her the next Kelly Clarkson. Katy Perry also saying she wants Madison to win this thing.

Shaker High is no stranger to having successful students. They've produced two current Major League Baseball players -- Jeff Hoffman and Tommy Kahnle -- and Moriah Formica, who competed on "The Voice."
