Alleged Saratoga County home scammer has one week to plead

A Saratoga County home builder accused of stealing more $1 million from her customers has one week to accept a plea offer from state prosecutors.

Sherrie Burton, 65, was in court on Monday to take a deal that would have her plead guilty to grand larceny and be sentenced to up to nine years in prison.

Burton, who ran Valued Homes in Moreau, is accused of taking large deposits from customers and never completing the homes.

The judge gave her one more week to accept the Attorney General's offer.

The exact length of sentence would depend on how much restitution Burton would pay.
