Broad daylight shooting under investigation in Schenectady

August 29, 2019 06:17 PM

Schenectady police are investigating a shooting Thursday afternoon on Vassar Street. That's at the intersection of Eastern and Wendell avenues.

Officers were focused on a house in that area. However, the connection was still unclear as of Thursday evening.

Earlier in the evening, a car which appeared to have its windows shot out was towed away from the parking lot next door. It was a silver Pontiac Grand Am.

Investigators say after the shooting, their preliminary investigation led them there.

What NewsChannel 13 knows about the shooting itself is one man was shot in the abdomen. Officers say evidence of several gunshots was found at the scene on Vassar, which happens to be right near the fire station.

Shattered glass and blood stains could be seen out there.

Detectives say the victim was conscious and alert when they arrived. He was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

At this time, police say no one has been charged in this shooting.

Anyone with information is urged to call Schenectady police.
