A beloved Albany nun has been killed in a head-on crash with a pickup truck.

NewsChannel 13's media partners at The Post-Star report Sister Monica Murphy, 77, was driving on Route 74 in Schroon Monday evening when she veered into the opposite lane and hit the truck. It's unclear why.

The people inside the truck were treated for neck and back pain.

Sister Murphy had been a nun for 58 years. She was the director of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany's Pyramid Life Center. She also taught at Catholic Central High School in Troy.

A celebration of her life is planned for a future date.
