Snowy weather closes hundreds of Capital Region schools

February 12, 2019 08:07 PM

Nearly 500 schools and organizations either dismissed early or closed for the day. That meant parents had to rearrange plans as they factored in the early pickups and childcare.

That includes North Colonie, where an early decision was made to dismiss 5,800 students.

"At this point in time, we thought that probably better since an early dismissal involves families making plans and preparations, probably better to notify them earlier rather than later," explained D. Joseph Corr, the North Colonie Schools superintendent.

One mom NewsChannel 13 spoke with says she really looks forward to a snow day like this because it means she can spend some really fun and quality time with her daughter.
