The goal of "Sock Out Cancer" is to help families dealing with cancer, pay for everyday expenses -- from food to transportation.

"It helps individuals in a lot of different ways. Number one, it lets people know that we care. Number two, when somebody needs something as basic as food when they're fighting cancer, the finances from 'Sock Out Cancer' make that available to them -- so it's tremendous," explained Bruce W. Boyea, the chairman of Security Mutual Life.

Tickets are now on sale. All of the money raised will go to St. Peter's Hospital and Albany Medical Center.

NewsChannel 13 is a proud sponsor of the event.
